Deep fried cheese pepperoni & bacon pizza balls + quick marinara sauce

Ingredients

large ball of pizza dough, rolled into small balls to fill

cup mozzarella, grated
1/2
cup bacon crumble
1/2
cup pepperoni slices
1
tsp oregano
1
cup pizza sauce
1/2
cups non salted butter, melted
1
cup parmesan, grated

Tbsp parsley, dried
1
tsp garlic powder
canola oil, for frying

Marinara Sauce

tsp olive oil
2
cloves garlic, finely minced
1
can crushed tomatoes
1
small bay leaf
salt and fresh black pepper, TT

tsp oregano, dried
small bunch fresh basil, finely chopped

Instructions

Sauce
  1. Add oil to a medium pot, over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic and cook down for 1/2 minute.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano, and bay leaf. Stir and reduce heat to low.
  4. Cover and let simmer about 15 – 20 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and add fresh chopped basil, mix well and serve.
Pizza Balls
  1. Heat oil in a deep pot to 375f (190c).
  2. In a large bowl mix together cheese, pepperoni, bacon and oregano.
  3. Roll out pizza dough balls
  4. Place 1 tsp pizza sauce in the centre and top with about 1 tbsp of the meat & cheese mix. Fold and roll dough ball to seal and close.
  5. When the oil is hot, carefully fry each dough ball until golden brown, Approx 1-2 mins.
  6. Pour hot melted butter over the balls .
  7. Meanwhile, in a small bowl mix together parmesan, parsley, garlic powder
  8. Toss the hot dough balls until coated in the parm, parsley mixture.
  9. Serve hot. Dip in marinara sauce, enjoy!
