This is my favourite drink of all time. In the summer I enjoy it with ice and in the winter it warms me up on a cold day. Turmeric is the star of this latte—one of my favourite superfoods and one of the most researched foods in modern science. Turmeric is an incredibly detoxifying, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant-rich food. Many people shy away from turmeric, thinking it will make everything taste like curry. But turmeric all on its own is both sweet and savoury. So no, this latte doesn’t taste like curry. It tastes like heaven!

Ingredients

3 tbsp
coconut butter
1 tbsp
real maple syrup
2 tsp
ground turmeric
1 tsp
grated fresh ginger
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
2 cups
hot water, filtered

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender. Depending on how hot your water is, you may need to let the steam dissipate before you put the lid on your blender. Blend for 30 to 60 seconds, until smooth. Some sediment might settle at the bottom of your cup. If you wish to avoid this, strain the drink through a fine-mesh strainer when pouring from the blender.
Coconut butter gives this drink a wonderful natural sweetness and creaminess. It’s a worthy investment, but if you don’t have any on hand, you can easily make up for the lack of sweetness with a touch of maple syrup. For the creaminess, you could swap out half the hot water for coconut milk instead.
