Mulled Wine with Claire Tansey

Ingredients

1
orange
sweet apple cider, non-alcoholic
3 tbsp
granulated sugar
1 tbsp
whole cloves
3
cinnamon sticks
2
star anise
2 bottles
dry red wine

Instructions

  1. Use a vegetable peeler to take the zest off the orange in long strips. Drop the zest into a medium pot, then juice the orange and add the juice to the pot as well. Add the apple cider, sugar (if using) and spices. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes
  2. Add the red wine and heat gently (but do not boil) until heated through. Serve warm.
