Big batch bolognese sauce

Make a big batch of pasta using a tasty bolognese sauce to feed a large family.

Ingredients

1 lb
extra lean ground beef
1 large
diced onion
12
minced cloves garlic
227 g
diced cremini mushrooms
2 cans 796 ml/28 oz
San Marzano tomatoes
2 cans
rinsed and drained lentils
2 tsp
cracked pepper
1/4 tsp
iodized salt
1 Tbsp
dried oregano
1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp
pesto or frozen basil

Instructions

  • In a large pot over medium high heat, brown the beef.
  • Add onion, garlic and mushrooms and sauté until the onion is soft.
  • Add tomatoes, lentils, pepper, salt and oregano.
  • Bring to a medium bowl, cover, reduce the heat, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove lid and keep simmering for extra 15 minutes.
