Grands-pères aux bleuets (dumplings in blueberry sauce)

Ingredients

1/4 cup
room temperature butter
1/2 cup
sugar
1 1/2 cup
flour
2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
salt
1 cup
milk
1
egg

Blueberry Sauce

4 cups
fresh or frozen blueberries, (increase to 5 cups if they are wild blueberries)
3/4 cup
sugar
juice of half a
lemon

Instructions

  1.  In a large saucepan, bring the blueberries, sugar and lemon juice to a boil.
  2.  In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Reserve.
  3.  In a second bowl, whisk together the butter, sugar and egg.
  4. Gradually incorporate (in 4 steps) the flour mixture, alternating with the milk.
  5. Pour the paste in large tablespoons (use an ice cream scoop) into the boiling fruit.
  6. Reduce the heat, cover, and cook the dough for about 10-15 minutes.
  7. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
