These Activities Will Level Up Your Canadian Vacation

If you’re itching for a vacation, but aren’t ready to leave the country, you don’t have to worry! You won't believe what this beautiful place has to offer.
Whale Watching
The first thing you should see can be done on both coasts— whale watching.
In BC, whale watching is huge and the best company I have found is Eagle Wings in Victoria, as they guarantee sightings.
Let's head East because Newfoundland and Labrador are one of the most spectacular whale watching places on Earth. The world's largest population of humpback whales return every year to feed on the whale buffet along the East coast.
There are many other species you can also view. But remember, bring binoculars!
There are a few more hoops to jump through to travel to the East Coast right now, but it is possible, especially if you are fully vaccinated. Click here for more information.
Close to the City (Toronto)
Something most Torontonians know about is the edge walk on the CN Tower. This activity allows participants to walk around the CN Tower with a suit and harness. If you enjoy heights and the beautiful, overwhelming view of the city, then this is an unforgettable experience for you!

Winter Blues? No problem!
Winter in Canada is not as bad as they make it out to be. In Quebec City, winter is a wonderland. The Hotel de Glace is carved entirely out of ice and seems like a page taken out of a storybook. As well, the best seasons to travel to Quebec are January and April as its famous carnival takes place.
Time to get back to the wildlife, in British Columbia, you can sometimes spot the very rare Spirit bear. Travel down Spirit Bear Lodge and try your luck at finding the mysterious bear.

Headed North
Let's not forget the natural light show in the North— the Aurora Borealis’. Tundra North Tours is a great, easy way to see this natural wonder.
Also, don't miss popping into Dawson's city for a traditional cocktail— the Sour Toe Cocktail. This goes back to the days of prohibition when a rum runner lost his toe to frostbite and they put it in moonshine. In 1975, someone found it and turned it into a cocktail. To this day, you can drink a cocktail with a real toe in it.

4 Summer Fashion Trends That Span Through Generations
[bc_video video_id="6263825329001" account_id="2226196965001" player_id="rkljM4WDEg"]
One of the things that hear all that time in fashion and that really irks me is when people say things like “Oh I’m too old for this” or “I wore this when I was younger.” Any age-related fashion rule really irks me because they’re made up! You can wear anything at any age, it is all in how you style it, make it your own and at your comfort level.
Bermuda Shorts
The biggest trend this summer is the Bermuda short—it is back with a vengeance. Everyone’s had it on the runway, our own Tanya Taylor, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s The Row and Tom Ford. Anyone can wear a Bermuda short; it really is about the length. It can be a denim, a stretch, linen, or khaki.
The pair that I'm wearing are from H & M. They have a classic cut and are in a nice crêpe white, and paired them with a blue block heel.
This is how my 16-year-old gen Z daughter Mimi is wearing the Bermuda short this summer. Mimi is wear the short in a classic blue denim style paired with a cute crop top and "mom-approved" flowy blouse over top. Age-appropriate and hitting the trend of the Bermuda short.
The trend is for all ages. My mom Peggy will show us how she’s going to be wearing these shorts all season. She is so comfortable in these shorts and they are in this nice black crêpe colour. I've paired the shorts with a nice black tank top from Preloved and a sleeveless white blouse over top.
Tip: Make sure the over-piece you choose is not longer than the actual shorts, otherwise they'll get lost in the whole look.
Matching Sets
The next trend you’ll be seeing this season is the matchy-matchy sets! Whether it’s top and bottoms, a whole look,
Here's how I’m wearing this trend. I’m going a little more polished, I’ve got a matching suit set, it’s hounds tooth and it’s a lightweight material. What I love about this set is that it’s a mix of corporate workwear and athleisure—something we will be seeing a lot of as we head back to the office. The set is composed of joggers with a blazer from Winners, I've paired this look with a running shoe since this is post-pandemic office wear!
This is how model Mimi will be getting in on the matchy trend. Mimi is wearing a lightweight summer knit shorts and cropped sweater. They’re the same colour, they look great together but can be worn separately since they're so versatile. She’s got her favourite slides on with this look.
This is how my mom is getting in on the trend. She's wearing an A-line flowy skirt, perfect for summer and a matching camisole. This set is from H&M, I've paired this look with a white blazer to make it look more put together. She’s ready for drinks on a patio.
Crochet Knits
Our next trend is crochet summer knits; we’ve been seeing them everywhere. It’s a bit of a retro vibe and super easy to wear! Don't worry, you do not have to wear a crochet bikini top to hit this trend.
I’m wearing a neutral green crochet knit with my favourite white jeans. The top is a bit see-through with the holes, but not too much.
Mimi is wearing a white crochet cardigan paired with a light green skirt. This look is super youthful, I added a strapless black crop top, some matching white slides, and of course an on-trend mini bag.
And this is how Peggy is wearing crochet this season. She’s wearing this beautiful dress, it’s more of a lace pattern but it hits that crochet trend. It's all about embracing the trend in what feels comfortable to you. I finished this look with a red block heel and Peggy’s ready for a socially distant summer wedding.
Monochromatic Colour
Our last trend is colour and monochromatic colour, wearing one colour from head to toe. We’re seeing bright blues, lime green, purples, orange an explosion of colour everywhere.
I’m wearing this yellow plaid dress, with these snake print shoes that have pops of yellow in them. I used a bright yellow silk scarf as a hair tie and added a bright yellow fanny pack, and I’m ready to go.
Mimi is wearing head-to-toe purple. She's wearing lavender colour joggers with a striped purple crop-top paired with a knit cropped cardigan. And of course, you cannot be a Gen Z without a bucket hat.
For my mom we went with the colour green, it looks so beautiful on her! Head-to-toe monochromatic with light-green flowy pants and striped green button up. But, the hero of this look is the coatigan. A coatigan is a coat + cardigan and this olive green one is from a Canadian brand, Soia & Kyo.

Throwback Tech Is Making A Comeback In A Big Way
[bc_video video_id="6263684946001" account_id="2226196965001" player_id="rkljM4WDEg"]
It seems like in the world of tech we are always on to “the next new electronic thing”. Faster, smaller, smarter, and a plethora of other terms that describe the latest gadget are constantly catching our eye. But some people like a little throwback appeal and prefer their “next new thing” to look like an “old thing”. So what’s the appeal of the latest electronics wrapped in a retro design?
Theories of the retro design craze:
- The throwback designs make challenging and intimidating technology seem familiar and more approachable.
- Retro designs can also give a sense of permanence to something that is seen as a disposable device.
- It’s art form in many cases.
- Most importantly, the memories attached to our old school technology just can’t be beat!
