It’s harvest season! And we are going to help you create some harvest-inspired planters to keep your home festive for fall.
1. To create a harvest planter you will need:
- Container with drainage
- Potting soil
- Fall themed plants or fall colours
- To create drainage in my own planter I take a plastic pot and flip it upside down inside the planter!
- Fall Garden Mums AKA Chrysanthemums
- Ornamental grasses such as a purple panicum
- Pansies or violas
- Assorted perennials; look for ones with interesting foliage such as coral bells
- Ornamental peppers
- Ornamental kale and flowering cabbage
- Fake fall leaves work as well to mix in!
- Look for plants that resemble the colours of fall: orange, yellow, purple, and red
- Use things straight from the orchard!
- Corn stalks
- Apples (if you have raccoons use fake apples!)
- Ornamental grass
- Mini pumpkins

Sea Salted Caramel Apples

It's apple-picking season and that means making caramel apples! First, let's start out by picking the right apple. Tart apples are the best choice for delicious caramel apples. Due to the high acid content, Granny Smith apples do not turn brown after cutting as soon as most other apple varieties. Granny Smith apples have firm flesh that holds its shape when sliced.

5 Ways To Dress Your Baby Bump For Every Occasion
[bc_video video_id="6276167309001" account_id="2226196965001" player_id="rkljM4WDEg"]
When you’re pregnant it can be hard to find clothes that fit AND look good. Here are some helpful tips to dress your baby bump for every occasion.
Maternity fashion can often be kind of “matronly” and one-note. What I recommend is finding non-maternity pieces that work over the bump and can be worn again post-pregnancy. It’s about finding the right cut and pieces that stretch and form to your body or going a little oversized. And when in need of a one-time wear item, renting is always an amazing solution.
Look 1: Day time/everyday look
- A comfy shift dress.
- You can easily wear this over the bump, and it's something you can wear post-pregnancy as well.
- It’s about comfort without forgoing style.
- For work, you still want to look professional, polished and put together.
- Stretchy sweater dress or oversized collared shirt dress.
- What is key here is to go a size up when buying clothes for maternity to accommodate the bump.
- You can also do a flowy floral dress
- This dress has stretch in the bodice to accommodate the bump. Can also grow with it.
- I love this one as you can wear it day to night (slip it to off-the-shoulder for the evening)
- Anything fitted in the top and then flows out under the bump works great.
- Renting a dress is really an incredible solution for maternity wear as you will truly only wear the garment once.
- For dressier occasions like this, you really don’t need to be buying these kinds of formal garments and having them sit wastefully in your closet collecting dust, especially when your body is changing both during and after pregnancy.
- This dress could work for a more casual wedding or something like a baby shower
- If you are invited to a super formal occasion like a black-tie wedding or formal affair you can rent a formal gown.
- Show off the bump with a fitted dress.
- Something like this would look amazing on as we get into colder weather and if you want more arm coverage (still has a leg slit though for a little leg moment):

[bc_video video_id="6276166258001" account_id="2226196965001" player_id="rkljM4WDEg"]
Every curly-haired gal knows that our tresses require a little extra TLC to make them look their best. Here are 5 mistakes I see when it comes to curly hair, plus my expert solutions to those mistakes.
Mistake #1 washing too often or not enough
- Over-washing leads to dryness, under-washing leads to a buildup
- THE FIX: Wash once a week, or every third to fourth day if you exercise
- Keeps scalp and hair free of buildup and keeps hair soft and manageable.
- Will create split ends which leads to breakage
- THE FIX: Detangle with conditioner and wet brush/wide tooth comb
- Conditioner provides slip which will help your brush or comb run through your hair more smoothly, preventing breakage and split ends
- Can lead to frizz and zero definition – product only in certain sections
- THE FIX: Applying products on wet hair ensures hair is fully saturated with the products
- Results in defined curls and zero frizz
- Leads to tangling
- THE FIX: Sleep in a silk bonnet or on a silk pillowcase
- Prevents dryness, breakage, and split ends
- You can wrap your hair in a silk scarf or using silk scrunchies for extra protection
- Can lead to breakage
- THE FIX: Be consistent with trimming your curls every 3-4 months
- Helps to retain length
- Make sure to get your hair trimmed by stylists who are knowledgeable about curly hair textures
