Looking to add a headboard into your bedroom? Sharon Grech shares an easy DIY for making your own rustic headboard.
DIY rustic headboard
Materials:
Bundle of cedar shims
Plywood cut to desired headboard size
1-1/2” nails
Hammer
Benjamin Moore Semi-solid Arborcoat Stain, Cliffside Gray
Benjamin Moore eggshell, colour Simply White OC-117
Jigsaw for trimming
Method:
1. Using a pencil, lightly draw out the pattern on plywood (shims are not perfectly square, so this is for a general guideline only).
2. Determine how many will remain natural cedar, I chose the largest ones.
3. From what is remaining, stain half gray and the other half roughly paint white.
4. Layout the shims and when you are satisfied with the pattern, hammer each shim into place.
5. Use a jig saw to trim the edges square, and then use the off-cuts to fill in any missing piece.
