DIY Reverse Stencil Coffee Table
Materials:
Solid wood coffee table (or furniture piece of choice)
Stencil pattern
“Con-tact” re-positionable adhesive paper
Sandpaper
Scissors
High-density foam roller
Benjamin Moore’s Fresh Start primer
Benjamin Moore’s Aura interior paint in satin finish
Benjamin Moore’s Stays Clear topcoat in low lustre finish
How To:
– Lightly sand all surfaces of the wood coffee table to remove any gloss or sheen.
– Thoroughly clean the surfaces to remove any dust particles.
– Select a stencil pattern of your choice, and trace in onto a sheet of adhesive “Con-tact” paper.
– Cut the image out with scissors, and firmly apply it to the raw furniture piece making sure that there are no bubbles and the edges are smooth.
– Apply a coat of primer to the entire piece, including rolling over top of the stencil pattern.
– Allow to dry, and then apply 2 top coats of Aura paint over all surfaces once again.
– While the surface is still wet, carefully remove the “Con-tact” stencil to reveal the reverse wood grain pattern.
– Once the piece is thoroughly dry, apply a final coat of Stays Clear to the entire table, including over the exposed wood to seal and protect the piece.
