Grandma’s Christmas cranberry squares

Ingredients for crust:
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp icing sugar
1/3 cup butter, cut into chunks (butter must be at room temperature)

Ingredients for the topping:
2 eggs
11/3 cups brown sugar, lightly packed
1/4 cup melted butter
1 tbsp real maple syrup
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F and grease a square pan about 9″ x 9″.

To make crust: Mix together flour and icing sugar. Then, using a pastry blender, add butter and work into crumbs. Press this mixture into the baking pan and bake about 8 minutes.

For the topping: In a medium bowl, beat eggs, brown sugar, butter, maple syrup, vinegar, and vanilla until blended. Then, stir in dried cranberries and walnuts. Pour this mixture over the crust and bake about 20-25 minutes until topping is set and starting to brown.
