Citytv.com Launches Primetime Video iPad App

CityLine and Toronto's Breakfast Television are among the programs featured on the brand new app.

Citytv.com has launched a primetime video application for the iPad, the first by a Canadian television broadcaster.

CityLine and Toronto’s Breakfast Television are among the programs featured on the free video app, along with hit Citytv shows Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Hell’s Kitchen, and 30 Rock. You’ll find it available for download from the iTunes Store.

“How Canadians interact with traditional television is evolving.  They want to watch their favourite shows when and where they want to on their preferred device – whether it’s a television, smartphone or a tablet,” noted Claude Galipeau, SVP & GM, Digital Media, Rogers Media Inc., in a press release.

The Citytv Video app will allow viewers to watch full-length programs as well as shorter clips on their iPad. They’ll also be able to browse a TV schedule, receive reminders on when their favourite shows become available, and share video links via Facebook, Twitter, and email. The app also saves a user’s viewing history and favourites.

Says Galipeau: “Rogers has a
reputation for innovation in Canada.
Launching the first Canadian TV iPad application reinforces Rogers’ commitment to deliver seamless
entertainment experiences for our audiences. In addition to catching-up on their favourite shows online, on
Citytv.com, through Rogers Video On Demand and RogersOnDemand.com, customers
can now access the easy to use and convenient iPad option."

The Citytv Video iPad app is the latest multi-screen viewing initiative from Rogers. Earlier this year, Citytv launched its Shorts In The City app for iPad
and iPhone. The collection of short video clips was produced
exclusively for online viewing.
