Prom is a rite of passage for many high school students but since the pandemic students have been missing out. Thankfully this year prom is back so let’s go over the trends and styles for prom dresses this year.
Cut-outs
Thanks to the show Euphoria we’re seeing edgier styles in prom dresses. This bright red has always been a popular colour for prom and it’s still going strong.
Here’s another example of the cut-out trend. The full-length pleated skirt with high slit Is also also a big trend for Fall and adds to that edgy influence.
One-shoulder
One-shoulder is a huge trend for prom and formal gowns in general. I love this version with the youthful and trendy cut-out, but it’s still simple and elegant.
For more of a pop of colour to stand out in the crowd I love this dress in the bright pink. The cut-out in the waist creates an elongating high-waist effect. This one is really cool because it almost has a two-piece look which is also trendy.
Mermaid Silhouettes
Mermaid dresses create an undeniable a flattering cut and a great piece if you want to either show off your curves or create curves. This mesh gown version is made of a sturdy, substantial fabric and looks so stunning and very red carpet.
For a slinkier version this one shoulder emerald green gown is a stunner. We’re seeing that one-shoulder here and the high slit which is super trendy for prom.
Sequins and high shine
This showstopper is fitted with a bit of a mermaid cut. The trendy cowl neck and gold sequin sparkle is perfect if you want to stand out at prom.
If you are looking for an elegant look while still getting that high shine effect than this shimmery dress is for you. The shimmery fabric is more subtle that sequins but still gives you that sparkly look.
Princess ballgowns with bustier bodice
If you want to feel like the Belle of the Ball, then you can’t go wrong with a ballgown. This is a beautiful cut with the off-the-shoulder on one side. The fitted bust also means you can get away with not wearing a bra and you won’t move out of place.
This bustier bodice is also very on trend and mixes that “sexier” style with a princess tulle skirt to really soften the look.
If you want to feel like a true Cinderella at prom, this high shine gown is for you. This gold off-the-shoulder look is definitely not for those who wants to blend in with the crowd.
