Here’s How to Make Your Fragrance Scent Last Longer
Have you ever applied your favourite perfume, only to have the smell wear off moments later? That’s
probably because you’ve been applying it WRONG! Luckily, there are some simple hacks to make your scent last longer.
Investing in More Concentrated Fragrances
Fragrances come in different concentrations!

- “Concentration” is a way of describing the ratio of perfume oils to alcohol in your fragrance
- More oils + less alcohol means your fragrance will smell stronger
- The more concentrated the fragrance, the longer it will last, and you won’t have to apply as much
- From lowest to strongest concentration: Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum and then Extrait de Parfum
Spray on Clean, Damp Skin
- Fragrances don’t last as long on dry skin because it needs something to stick to
- The perfect time to spray a fragrance is straight out of the shower (because your skin is clean and
damp, and your pores can more easily absorb the scent – just like other beauty products) - Reminder: DON’T keep the perfume in the bathroom because it’s hot and humid which breaks down the
scent - INSTEAD, store them in a cool place away from direct sunlight
Spray After Moisturizing
- Fragrances work best on moist skin
- If you can’t shower before applying perfume, FIRST apply an unscented lotion or body oil, THEN
spray - Better yet, if you have the matching moisturizer, use that!

Spray on Pulse Points
When you apply your fragrance, you want to apply it in the right spots
- Fragrances perform best on the warm and moist spots of your body – these are your Pulse Points
- You’ll be like a walking diffuser as you go about your day!
- These locations include: behind the ears, neck. chest/collarbone, wrists, insides of elbows, back of the knees
- Unlike contrary belief, it’s important to NOT rub your wrists together! It can dull notes in the fragrance, AND our body oils get mixed with the fragrance which can change the way it smells
Spray on Clothes (or Hair)
I swear by this hack! Instead of just the traditional spray behind the ears or on your pulse points, spray your fragrance on your clothing! Make sure to spray at a distance that will not leave wet
marks, but I promise your fragrance will linger all day.

You can also apply fragrance to your hair
- DON’T spray directly on your hair, INSTEAD spray it on a brush and brush your hair
- Avoid using Eau de Toilette fragrances in your hair – it has more alcohol, which can be drying
