Cheeseboards are delicious, it is the perfect treat for you and your loved ones. But where do you start and how? Look no further, we have got you covered. Follow these steps for a classic cheeseboard that is going to satisfy your cravings.
- Pick 2-6 cheese types depending on the size of your group
- Offer more than 1 type of milk – cow, sheep, goat, water buffalo, vegan
- Offer a mix of fresh and dried fruits, fresh or pickled vegetables, 1-2 condiments, and 1-2 “vehicles” (bread/crackers)
- Serve your cheese at room temperature!
If you are in the market to splurge, you won’t want to miss these tips.
- One “forever favourite” – usually a triple crème or a really old cheddar
- One special cheese that you have always wanted to try – ask your cheesemonger about the cheese! Is it “ripe” yet? Does it go especially well with a particular pairing?
- One cheese that will pull the board together – the missing link – may be a hard cheese,
blue cheese, or sheep milk cheese? The opportunities are endless and completely yours to decide. - Choose some accompaniments that elevate the board – truffle honey or fresh truffles, gold-coated Marcona almonds, balsamic pearls, some fine charcuterie
Now, if you want to budget and save, you can also enjoy a delicious cheeseboard. The first thing to do is set your budget. Cheeseboards can get very expensive, very quickly. For $25, here is what we did:
