A DIY Holiday Home Bar
The holidays may look a bit different this year, but many of the elements for a festive celebration remain. Please check the municipal and provincial rules where you live before making your plans!
If you are looking for ways to celebrate with the people in your home, we have just the set up for you with a pretty holiday bar. You can create a bar area in a very small space. Dark wood paneling sets the tone. We added leather chairs in green to give it the English feel the clients wanted and then added the green marble for countertops and backsplash.
One mistake people make when setting up a bar, is to fill the back wall with tons of glasses and gadgets. That can feel pretty busy and overwhelming. All you need is some glass shelves, dedicated lighting, and some artwork to set the mood and tone.

Creating a “mini-bar” is simple. You might find yourself a bar cart like this one from EQ3. We’ve got a few staples on the bottom, vodka, gin, bourbon, and tequila. And then on top, we’ve got all the makings of a champagne bar. Lovely pink grapefruit juice and some decorative elements from around the house. I got the bar cart and the lovely glassware from EQ3.

Is there a return of the coupe glasses?

We are all feeling nostalgic for the good ole days. So not only is the coupe back but so are pre-prohibition era cocktails. Like the old fashioned, plus, anything you can imagine in terms of bitters. I have two here – one is pineapple which would be lovely with rum-based drinks and the other is cucumber which I would use with gin and tequila.
I’m also spending a little extra time treating our family to special touches like cocktail pins with candied orange slices and blueberries. Or anything else you want to add.

Helpful bar accessories
A console table, desk, or even a tray can hold the makings of a home bar. The advantage of a tray is, you can carry it outside. And, my new favourite gadget, the mixing glass with the pour spout. This is really versatile for drinks that need to be stirred rather than shaken.
Colours glasses are ‘in’ this year

Glasses/barware from Cocktail Emporium – lots of copper, cocktail pins (they can hold fruit or olive) and is a great way to indicate whose drink is whose. Straws. We’ve heard a lot about the damage plastic straws can cause and I was initially reluctant to embrace metal straws but look at these gorgeous gold straws. Yes, you have to clean them, but that’s what the straw cleaner is for!
