Bleach
Rubber gloves
Tassels (or some string or rope to DIY a tassel) optional
Paintbrush
ScotchGard Waterproof Spray

  1.  Using an existing indoor pillow remove pillow insert. Iron pillow cover until smooth. Try printing out a favourite quote or poem, anything that inspires you is perfect for this project. You want to make sure pillow inserts are good for the outdoors.
  2. Pick out the word you want to write on your pillow. Cut out each letter in card stock. Lay out your letter stencil on your pillow. For ease, and accuracy, use your home printer and computer. Simply print and cut out.
  3. In a small plastic spray bottle, combine 50% water with 50% bleach. Shake well to combine.
  4. Lightly spray each letter with your water/bleach solution.
  5. Remove letters and let it sit for 30 minutes for the bleach to do its magic.
  6. Rinse with cold clean water and launder before use.
  7. Add tassels to the four corners (optional). Spray with waterproofing fabric spray.
