Reboot Your Routine With These Game-Changing Apps
Keeping a routine during COVID-19 isolation can help to add a sense of normalcy to a time when nothing seems certain. It can also be an important part of maintaining your mental and physical health. Below, we’ve curated a list of the best apps to help you reboot your daily routine.
Morning Routine:
We all know the way we start our day will set the tone for the rest of it. The S.A.V.E.R.S acronym (Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, Scribe) reminds us of six habits or rituals that can improve our morning routines. These are my favourite apps to keep on track with S.A.V.E.R.S.:

- Waking up gently with a custom alarm—like Wave Alarm, Alarm Clock Extreme or Alarmy—and have a moment of silence.
- Start a meditation practice – Calm, Insight Timer, or Happify. All of these apps are like investing in a gym membership for your emotional health.
- Work on affirmations and visualization – apps like ThinkUp, Shine, or Smiling Mind can help.
- Begin an exercise routine: MyFitnessPal, Blogilates, Daily Yoga, Nike Training Club, Ease Into 5K, and Noom Walk are all excellent resources.
- Read, using: Amazon Kindle,Google Play Books, and/or Audible.
- Journal your thoughts with: Day One, Diarium, Journey, Grid Diary (this one is great if you’re a beginner at journaling), or Five Minute Journal.
During The Day:
If you’re working from home, maintaining a schedule and detailed To-Do list can really boost your productivity. Apps to aid you with this are:
- Wunderlist (note: this series is phasing out on May 6, 2020 and turning into Microsoft To Do), or alternatives like Ike, Google Tasks, and Asana
For nutrition and meal planning, try:
- Mealboard, Waterlogged, and/or 30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge. Pro tip: also download grocery apps like Flipp to save on groceries, and Rakuten and Checkout 51 to earn cash back for dollars spent.
To stay motivated, check out:
- The Momentum app – it turns your phone into a personal cheerleader!
To stay organized, I recommend:

- Digitizing your closet with PUREPLE Outfit Planner. Get out of those PJs and wear what you have. The best part is that, when you’re ready to return to “normal life,” this app will customize your outfits so you don’t have to waste time thinking about what to wear.
Nighttime:
You can adopt the same routine for the night as we did in the morning (see apps above). Closing your day with gratitude, reflection, documenting goals for the following day, meditation, reading or journaling can be a great way to end your routine and gently fall asleep.
