Head in a Jar

This unearthly, unnerving head in a jar will be at the center of attention this Halloween!

Shopping List

  • Large Clear Jar (5 gallons or so)
  • Food Coloring
  • Fake hair/wig (optional)
  • Paper laminating pouches (which you can have done at local copy shop)

Tools

  • Photo Editing Software

Instructions

  1. Source on the web of a creepy flattened. Surprisingly there are lots of them.
  2. Or create your own image of a ‘flattened head’ using photo editing software on your computer. You can follow these easy steps here.
  3. Print out your image on 8.5” x11” paper. You want to make sure your image has no white margin along the outside. You can always trim this off before you laminate.
  4. Using an at-home laminating pouch, you want to make your image waterproof. If you don’t know how to laminate at home, you can have it done at almost any copy shop for a dollar or two (this is what I did – much easier).
  5. You will need a large jar to hold your image – roughly five gallons.
  6. Fill up your jar half way with water. Add in food coloring to your liking. You want it to look preserved or pickled.
  7. Roll up the image and place it inside your jar. Fill up with more water.
  8. You can now add a wig on top – if you want it to look extra spooky. The hair will move with the water….ewwww
  9. Seal your jar and place it in the fridge to spook your next hungry guest.
