Eat clean day #2 – Go nuts for walnuts!
Eat clean action step:
For heart health and an omega 3 fat boost, include walnuts on your salads or as a healthy snack.
Among all the foods on the planet – walnuts literally top the charts as one of the healthiest foods to eat. Walnuts are rich in anti-oxidants and omega 3 fats, which makes them extremely effective in combating heart disease. Researchers have shown eating just one handful of walnuts per day reduces the risk of cancer by 40 percent and cardiovascular disease by 55 percent. This wonderful nut is also rich in vitamin B, which has been shown to be very beneficial for lowering stress and can help to improve the look of skin.
Although rich in fat, walnuts have also been shown to be helpful for weight loss. One ounce of walnuts contains a whooping 2.5 mg of omega 3 fats, 4 grams of protein and 2 grams of fiber, which puts an end to hunger.
Try making your own homemade trail mix to keep in your bag or at the office filled with dried apples, walnuts, dark chocolate chips and pumpkin seeds. Half a handful is all you will need!
