Here are DIY diva Leigh-Ann Allaire Perrault’s steps for adding a moody floral motif to a lampshade.
Moody floral lampshade
Materials:
Silk lampshade
Chalk or fabric paint
Brush
Water
Scotch Guard
Method:
1. Lightly spray a silk lampshade with water and wipe up any drips.
2. Dip an artist’s brush into warm water to wet the bristles and then dip it into a small amount of chalk paint or fabric paint.
3. Dab the paint onto the wet lampshade to create whatever pattern you want, and allow the paint to run freely for a watercolour effect.
4. Allow the shade to dry and then spray lightly with Scotch Guard to protect the finish.
Tip: A similar technique can be used on pillowcases. Make sure to put a piece of cardboard inside the case to stop the paint from bleeding through the fabric.
