This decadent Boursin cheese sauce will bring your steaks to the next level! Chef Devan Rajkumar shares his recipe and shows how this dish comes together in the video below.
Grilled striploin steak with Boursin cheese sauce
Prep time 5 minutes
Cook time 20 minutes
Serves 4
Ingredients:
Steaks:
- 2 8oz Prime Striploin steaks
- 2 garlic cloves (grated)
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Cheese sauce:
- ¼ Boursin cheese
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 garlic clove
- 20g unsalted butter
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp lemon zest
Method:
Steaks:
Pre-heat BBQ on medium-high. For even cooking, remove steaks from the fridge 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to cooking to allow them to reach room temperature.
In a mixing bowl combine garlic, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, olive oil and whisk well. Brush steaks with marinade.
Oil BBQ or grill pan with vegetable oil and season steaks before cooking. If barbequing, close lid.
Cook 3 minutes per side or until a meat thermometer reaches 130F for medium rare. Allow steaks to rest for a minimum of 6 minutes before slicing or serving.
Cheese sauce:
Bring a sauce pan to medium heat and melt butter, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds before adding the cream. Reduce cream by half then slowly whisk in the Boursin. Add salt to taste.
Assembly:
Plate the steaks with the sauce on the side or on top of a portion of the steak.
NOTE: Marinating the steak in red wine or adding ingredients such as soy sauce, Dijon or Montreal steak spice is optional. However, with a quality piece of meat, chef Devan would recommend not over-seasoning as the true integrity of the meat may be jeopardized.
