Paint wall using base coat paint.

Tape wall in vertical sections, 36 inches wide.

Combine 3 parts glaze and 1 part top coat paint in a mixing container or paint tray and mix well.

Roll paint in horizontal direction on wall, working in 3 ft by 3 ft sections.

Drag or scrape the comb across the painted section in a horizontal direction to remove and expose base colour.

Repeat steps 4 + 5 in taped off section.

Remove tape and allow the top coat or finish to dry.

Re-tape new sections and continue applying the grasscloth finish.

Option: Break off teeth from comb to created a more natural look with some wider spaces between lines.

Tape art board in equal sections lengthwise.

Cut comb-like tool from cardboard with unequally spaced teeth.

Paint sections with base coat paint.

Combine 3 parts glaze and 1 part paint in mixing container or paint tray and mix well.

Roll paint and glaze mixture in taped off section.

Using the cardboard comb, drag or scrape in an angled direction to remove and expose base colour and create a chevron pattern.

Remove tape and allow top coat or finish to dry.

Re-tape new sections and continue applying top coat finish.

Approximate cost: $40 – $60, depending on the size of the art board
