The Looneyspoons’ lip-smacking, herb-infused marinade makes these succulent beef kebobs a flavour-packed, grill-time favourite.
Grilled sirloin kebobs
Ingredients for marinade:
- 2 tbsp grainy Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp minced fresh rosemary or 1 tsp dried rosemary
- 1½ tsp minced fresh thyme or ½ tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp each salt and freshly ground black pepper1½ lbs (680 g) thick-cut sirloin steak, cut into 1½-inch cubes (see tip)
- 4 12-inch metal skewers
Method:
Whisk together all marinade ingredients in a small bowl.
Place steak cubes in a large, heavy-duty, resealable plastic bag (or shallow glass baking dish). Add marinade and seal bag. Turn bag several times to coat steak with marinade. Marinate in refrigerator for at least 1 hour (longer if possible).
Preheat grill to high setting. Thread steak cubes onto skewers. Discard marinade. Place kebobs on a grill rack that has been coated with cooking spray or lightly brushed with oil. Close lid. Grill for 8 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until meat is cooked to desired degree of doneness.
Recipe tip: Ask the butcher at the meat counter for a piece of sirloin steak that’s at least 1 inch thick. If you feel like splurging, use beef tenderloin!
