Dave’s Faves for May
Agent Provocateur Fatale
I discovered this British luxury lingerie brand in 2000 when the fragrances were launched in a high end retailer. It was founded in 1994 by Joseph Corré (son of Vivienne Westwood) and Serena Ross. The couple has since divorced but the brand has new owners and new momentum. Ad campaigns have featured Kate Moss, Kylie Minogue and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The new fragrance Fatale features Monica Cruz. The scent itself is an Addictive Floriental with notes of mango nectar, velvet gardenia, Indonesian patchouli and chocolate gourmand addiction. It’s really sexy.
Clarins Radiance Plus Booster
This radiance booster concentrate can be mixed with any regular day or night moisturizer to create a made-to-measure self tanner. It does not have the characteristic odour of a traditional self-tanner. It doesn’t dry skin. And there are less chances of “mistakes” such as visible marks, uneven tan lines or orange-hued skin.
Chime for Change – Gucci Fragrances
A charitable cause created by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini to raise funds and awareness for girls’ and women’s empowerment in education, health and justice. Beyonce Knowles-Carter and Salma Hayak Pinault are the other two founding committee members. During the month of May, purchase a Gucci fragrance at Hudson’s Bay and Gucci will make a donation on your behalf to the area you want to support. Even better, there is a limited edition set of headphones as a gift with purchase while supplies last.
MAC Patent Polish Lip Pencils
The prize for best lip pencil design this month goes to MAC Cosmetics. These lip pencils create an instant glossy effect with bold colour. While other pencils tend to be more balm-like, these are more makeup. Really well done.
Mika for shu
Japanese artist Mika Ninagawa is a major star in Japan. A photographer, artist and filmmaker, she’s known for her eye-popping colour and modern art style. This month, she teams up with shu uemura again for limited edition packaging. This is true art.
