Dave’s Faves for February
Gucci Guilty Stud Limited Edition Bottles – for him & her
Occasionally fragrance houses will create very limited edition bottles of their top scents. And this month, Gucci has the “must-have” fragrance of the month. It’s the original Gucci Guilty scents but in bottle covered in studs. This is to complement Gucci’s fashion line. Designer Frida Giannini loves to add a bit of hard, rock ‘n’ roll edge to her accessories. So she’s done the same with these bottles. There are only a few hundred coming to Canada and will be available at select Hudson’s Bay stores. So if you like this, be quick as these will sell out fast.
Clinique Cheek Pop
This month, Clinique is introducing a brand new blush called Cheek Pop. This is a natural blush with no trace of powder or buildup on cheeks. It is a silky formula that achieves a vibrant colour. What’s interesting is this blush is created through a patented technology. It begins as a liquid and then is transformed through a slow baking process that transforms it into a lightweight powder. It retails for $24 and comes in four shades: ginger, peach, berry and plum.
Estée Lauder Sumptuous Infinite Daring Length + Volume Mascara
What’s cool about this new mascara from Estée Lauder is it promises long, lush lashes for up to 10 hours. That’s due to an advanced elastic-like formula with contains a unique blend of innovative, stretchable, rubber-like polymers. As the mascara dries, the fibers are fused onto lashes, setting and locking the fibers in place for longer length.
shu uemura the lightbulb foundation
This is the makeup that Madonna wears while on her concert tours. I recently interviewed her makeup artist Gina Brooke and she was saying that she uses shu uemura on Madonna. Gina’s done the makeup on Madonna’s last four tours and she says Madonna is the hardest working artist she’s ever known. I had no idea that she does a full rehearsal every afternoon at 3 pm to make sure the sound and lighting are perfect for that night’s show. What’s innovative about this foundation is that it was developed under all lighting conditions: indoors, outdoors, in day and evening lighting. And you’ll notice that it applied using this hard sponge. You’ll notice more radiant skin that reflects the light better.
Dior Dream Skin
This is Dior’s big skincare launch of the year and it really is a great example of how fast technology is moving in skin chemistry. It creates a soft focus veil that instantly hides any imperfections such as fine lines, pores, dull complexion and dark spots. But it also works over time to help boost collagen production and firm skin. So it has instant and long-term benefits. What you’ll really notice is how luxurious the texture is. This feels beautiful on skin.
Issey Miyake Ode to Nature Collection
Issey Miyake has taken his classic scents and reimagined them with some interesting ingredients. L’eau is infused with a lotus note. Pour Homme has Yuzu. Yuzu is a small citrus fruit like a grapefruit from East Asia. It is very aromatic.
