Grammy Awards and all-star comedies among highlights of City’s 2013-14 primetime lineup

The network will air the premiere music event for the next three years.

Comedy shows galore, the Grammy Awards, and an unprecedented seven original series are among the highlights of City’s just-announced 2013-14 primetime season.

City will broadcast the Grammy Awards for the next 3 years, one of three major music events to air on the network. The Country Music Association Awards (CMA Awards) and a three-hour broadcast special presentation of The Sound of Music, starring Carrie Underwood as Maria, also join City’s lineup.

Brand new comedy series Dads, from Emmy-winner Seth MacFarlane, Mom, starring Anna Faris and Allison Janney, Super Fun Night, starring Rebel Wilson, The Crazy Ones, starring Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, starring Andy Samberg, join City’s already strong lineup of returning comedies including: Modern Family, New Girl, Parks and Recreation, How I Met Your Mother, and 2 Broke Girls.

Modern Family will also run back-to-back on weeknights from 7-8pmET/PT.

“Staying true to our younger, urban-oriented audience, we continue to build City’s world-class programming slate with the best new shows, returning proven hits, and exciting event programming that are relevant to our viewers. This year’s schedule is the strongest in network history,” says Malcolm Dunlop, Executive Vice President of Programming & Operations, Rogers Media.

On the drama front, returning favourites Scandal, Revenge and The Carrie Diaries will be joined by new series Lucky 7, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, and Betrayal.

Among the original series coming to City in the 2013-14 season are Package Deal and Meet The Family. That’s in addition to a trio of original programs on OLN: Storage Wars Canada, The Liquidator, and The Project: Guatemala.

“Our focus last year was to continue the growth of the City network and expand its footprint to reach more viewers in more homes than ever before. The result has been tremendous, with the network growing 7% this year to reach 9.6 million homes, as we deliver our world-class content on a national stage,” says Rogers Media President of Broadcast Scott Moore.
