Meet our 5 Fit Couples!

Let's introduce you to the 5 couples who are going to be working closely with Stephanie Joanne over the next 8 weeks.

Our Fit Couples challenge has begun — so without further ado let’s introduce you to the 5 couples who are going to be working closely with Stephanie Joanne over the next 8 weeks. Our hope is that they inspire you to get back into your own fitness groove!

When we put out the call for couples of all types (husbands and wives, moms and daughters, best friends) we had no idea how big a response we’d receive. It was tough to select just 5 but here they are! They’re going to be blogging all the way through the challenge — be sure to read all about their progress at www.cityline.ca/fitcouples.

Our 5 Fit Couples:

Fit Couple #1: Melody and Eric

Do you know what it feels like to wake up one day and not recognize yourself? It felt like that. Like I was in a movie and it wasn’t real. My clothes didn’t fit. My winter jacket wouldn’t zip up, like someone replaced it with another smaller size as a prank.

Now 4 dress sizes bigger, when shopping I still pick up clothes, look at the size and think “that’s going to be way too baggy on me” and then I try it on and it (very sadly) fits. This year I’ll be 29. I want to have the last year of my 20s feeling proud of myself. I haven’t had one year in my twenties feeling good about my body.

My husband has also packed on the pounds since our wedding. He has put on 40 pounds and I put on 30, so 70 pounds between the both of us! Comparing our photos from our wedding it is so sad to see we’ve let ourselves go and have become “that couple.” We are a part of a bridal party and going to the Dominican this summer for the wedding and want to feel great about ourselves.

Please help!

Fit Couple #2: Judy and Todd

My husband and I want to get into the best shapes of our lives,  Supersonic BEST!!! Why Todd and I want/need to get into the best shape of our lives and more importantly together is because we both recently turned “40”.  I know, we look like we’re 27 but it’s true!!!!  We want to be “fabulous and 40” not “fat and 40”.  We have lost weight in the past, up and down like yo-yo’s but never at the same time and I believe that is a huge reason as to why we haven’t been able to keep it off.

We both realized at the beginning of this year that we are the heaviest that we’ve ever been.  That doesn’t make us feel very good about ourselves at all.  I know we don’t have tons of weight to lose but I know we would feel so much better if we could do your challenge, lose weight at the same time as each other and continue on the path that you will show us for the rest of our lives.

Fit Couple #3: Margrett and John

John and I have been happily married for over 30 years and we do everything together. During the last 3 years we have put on, up to 30 pounds each and coincidentally it matches with our years of total bliss.

Over the years we have always been active  and have worked out together at the gym, however the last few years have been harder to commit to considering we were so  involved in our sons renovations, our gardening passion, and life gets in the way. Getting motivated does not get any easier as the years pass.

It’s time to change it up and we would love to become a part of the challenge. Please help 2 young-at-heart baby boomers.

Fit Couple #4: Susan and Maryse

My daughter is getting married on July 6, 2013. We are trying to be in the best shape ever for her wedding. We currently do exercise. She went away to University for 5 years then stayed for an extra 2 years in Windsor (where she went to university) she has been living back in the GTA for the last year and a half. We are excited at being able to do things together again. We get together to go to a TRX class every Sunday morning. We would like to be considered for your contest. Here is a picture of us from last summer.

Fit Couple #5: Aida and Patricia

We’re fifty plus,

We’re FABULOUS!

My friend is slimming,

My breasts are brimming.

A work in progress,

Each of us!

An eight week plan,

I know we can!

We have our strengths,

Our guilty pleasures.

Bad knees, weak abs,

We’ll take your measures!

I volunteer,

She’s got career.

But really when all’s said and done,

We’re ready for hard work and fun.
