DIY: Posh pumpkins

Materials Required:

–    Pumpkins, real or faux, various sizes

–    Cloth table lace mats (Doilies) 5 “ and 12 “ diameters

–    Pre-mixed wallpaper paste and / or Mod Podge

–     Inexpensive paint or foam brush to apply paste

–    Spray paint – Matt Black, White and / or specialty color of your choice

–    Optional: Ornamental small Halloween spiders, rhinestones, glow in the dark paint,

–    Scissors

Instructions:

1.    Place pumpkins on drop cloth and spray paint white and/or black.

2.    Spray paint several sized white doilies black.

3.    When pumpkins and doilies are dry, coat generously with wallpaper paste.  Affixing the doilies  (slightly overlapping) to completely cover the pumpkin.  Use black painted doilies to cover white pumpkins and white doilies to cover black pumpkins.

4.    To create a ruffled top edge, cut out the center of one doily and place at the top of the pumpkin, the stem centered in the middle of the doily.  Paste into place.

5.    Smooth out any air bubbles to ensure the doilies are well secured and let completely dry for 48 hours.

Optional:  Use pushpins and/or glue to attach jeweled spiders and other Halloween ornaments or rhinestones as desired.

Place pumpkins in large urns, up the front steps or flanking the front door!  Boo!
