There is something breathtaking about a child’s hand print. A hand print is unique. Special. Kind of amazing really. Hand print activities are fun to do (for kids of any age!) and great presents to give for Father’s Day.
HAND PRINT FLOWER
You will need:
- Newspaper
- Non-toxic kids craft paint
- Construction paper (any colour)
- Crayons
- Paint brush or sponge
Lay out newspaper to cover work surface. Lay out construction paper on newspaper.
Using paint brush or sponge, paint your child’s hand with craft paint. Have child press hand flat and firm against construction paper. Fingers directed to top of page (as they are the petals of the “flower”). Have child remove hand by moving it directly upwards (so as not to smudge paint).
Wash hands.
Using crayons have child draw root of “flower” hand.
This hand print flower can be pasted on to a card, put in a frame or presented just on its own.
HAND PRINT NOTES
You will need:
- Cardboard (tip: recycle an old cereal box!)
- 8 ½ x 11 white paper (5 sheets)
- Scissors
- Markers
- Hole punch
- Ribbon, string or binder rings (2)
Trace child’s hand, using marker, onto a square of cardboard. Cut out shape of the hand. Copy this template; drawing and cutting a second hand print out of cardboard.
Again using hand template, draw and cut hand prints out of the 8 ½ x 11 sheets (fold the paper over to make two copies at a time).
Stack your hand print note paper together – 1 cardboard hand print, all the 8 ½ x 11 sheets and then the other cardboard hand print. Punch two holes in the palms of the hand print notes. Fasten the notes together using either ribbon, string or binder rings.
These hand print notes are a practical yet super special gift to give.
