With trends constantly changing from season to season, some
may find it difficult to build a basic wardrobe. Lisa Rogers stopped by CityLine to share her top
tips when it comes to organizing and keeping those necessary and timeless
pieces in your closet.
“They’re the meat and potatoes of your closet,” Rogers told
CityLine.ca. “You want to make your
clothing last, and look beautiful.”
Some pieces are never forgotten, and Rogers shared some of
her favourite pieces to keep on the top of the list when shopping for new
clothes this spring.

1)
For your underwear, ensure that they’re not
cutting you. As a general rule of thumb,
the less elastic, the more coverage you will get.
2)
Choose the right bra. Simple is best. “Most people’s bust lines sit far too low,”
Rogers noted. “When it sits in the right
place, the overall look improves.”
3)
Lastly, refrain from putting your bra in the
washing machine. Instead, hand wash and
rinse it with cold water.
WARDROBE TIPS
1)
Pick the right kind of clothing. Often when you pick the size of clothes, it
makes you fit better – potentially even slimmer!
2)
When bringing out your old wardrobe, make sure
your basics are clean and in good shape.
A classic white ‘T’ goes with everything – so have plenty on hand, as
they’re timeless.
3)
Not sure which pants to get? A dark wash,
straight leg jean is a staple in your wardrobe, and works with almost anything.
4)
Stock up with cardigans – they are great to have
in your closet, and are perfect for giving you a finished look.
5)
A little black dress works all year round – you
can play it up (or play it down) with accessories, giving you a quick pop of
style.
6)
Having a few different pairs of shoes is a
must! If you purchase a few pairs of
loafers, they’ll remain in style, and can be used time and time again.
