Just because summer is ending and school is beginning, doesn’t mean the fun has to stop, says Nanny Robina. But the season’s end does spell the need for a new routine – one that’ll help you get the kids ready for school every day in an hour or less!
Here are a few morning timesavers from Robina:
1. Prepare yourself the night before. Have the kids help you make the lunches the night before so that all you have to do is take them from the fridge to the backpack in the morning.
Also, lay out the school clothes the night before. And you should try to avoid letting the children choose what they wear at a very early age – that is if you want to avoid multiple outfit changes each morning, advises Robina.
2. Encourage the children to get dressed quickly. One way of doing this is to turn getting dressed in the morning into a game. For instance, if you have more than one child, consider offering a small prize to whoever gets dressed the fastest.
3. Make breakfast quick and easy. Opt for a lot of chopped up fruit and a slice of toast instead of bacon, eggs and pancakes, says Robina.
4. Get ready first! Get up earlier than the kids, get yourself ready for the day, and then you’ll only have them to worry about for the rest of the morning.
